You will be working at one of the most experienced and effective drugs and alcohol rehab centers in Thailand. The foremost focusses on rehabilitating their patients as speedy yet effective as possible. They achieve this by believing in the patients ability to recover and, of course the patient as an individual.
For students, they wish to offer the opportunity for an internship program in which you get to see a wide variety of clients with addictions and respond to a range of presenting problems. They want their interns to experience the island life too while also having them gain knowledge and skill in addictions counseling.
Internship
You will be given training by licensed staff and will help supervising the clients staying at the rehab. Furthermore, you will be assisting in all kinds of supervising and counselling duties ranging from assisting in client induction, bag search and facility tours to leading excursions and even giving one-to-one sessions to new clients.
Profile Student
You are a graduate or post-graduate student in Counseling or Psychology who has a commitment of three months minimum. Also required is for you to have a good working attitude with a lot of self-discipline and the ability to independently deal with challenging or urgent situations. Are you also good with the English language and do you have proficient skills in counselling and interviewing? Then this internship is just the challenge you are looking for!

Daily tasks
- Assist in client induction, bag search and facility tours for new clients
- Assist and mentor clients in doing their phase work and other home work
- Assist in picking up clients to and from the airport when needed
- Lead and facilitate art or creative therapy groups
- Do weekend duties, lead excursions, and monitor clients while shopping
- Be in charge of preparing and distributing clients’ notes, schedules and other materials
- Be in charge of coordinating with PT staff on the exclusion list
- Shadow different counselors in groups for learning purposes
- Give introductory one-on-one CBT sessions to new clients
You are/have
- A graduate or post-graduate intern in the field of counseling or psychology
- Must have good English communication and writing skills
- Possess good self-discipline and work habits
- Independent and able to deal with challenging clients and situations
- Knowledge in counseling and psychotherapy (important!)
- Must have good counseling and interviewing skills
- Knowledgeable in Cognitive-Behavioral therapies
- Able to lead structured group activities
- Able to adapt to various cultures and orientation
