What did you think of the city?
I think Berlin is fantastic. There is so much to see in the city. Culture, museums, and also the nightlife is amazing. If you love art and culture, Berlin is the perfect city for you. There are countless museums, exhibitions, and architectural sights. That’s also the reason why I chose Berlin. The people are approachable and social. Because Berlin is a student city, it’s easy to meet new people – everyone is open towards each other. Of course, there are also neighborhoods you might not want to visit at first. Some areas are less well-known and not as beautiful, but that’s exactly where you’ll find the students. The city is very up-and-coming, and I’ll definitely come back more often!
What did you think of the internship?
I did an internship at an event agency in the heart of the city, mainly focused on events related to art and culture. I organized various events for museums as well as for young artists. During my internship, I had to work extremely hard. I worked overtime every day and often continued with internship-related tasks in my free time. For example, I frequently visited exhibitions of young artists to network for my internship company. I didn’t mind that at all because I got to meet lots of great people. Of course, every internship has its pros and cons. For instance, I hated making budgets, but that was just part of the job. Overall, my internship company was amazing. They welcomed me with open arms and taught me so much.
What was the most special thing you experienced?
During an exhibition, I met an artist who invited me to a party that evening. At first, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to go, but in the end, I did — and I’m so glad I did! It was a fantastic party in a warehouse, and I made so many friends there, many of whom I’m still in touch with today. And on top of it all, that’s also where I met my current girlfriend!
Do you have any tips for students?
Try to gather as many contacts as possible during your internship. It’s helpful for building your network and makes the internship period more enjoyable. Get out there as much as possible to meet new people. Since it’s quite a large city, it might feel a bit unfamiliar at first, but that’s exactly why you should explore it — the city will soon start to feel like home.
