What did you think of the country?

Costa Rica is truly beautiful. If you love nature, this is definitely the place for you. Everything is stunning, the people are friendly, and you quickly become part of the culture. You do see more people from America, but that's only helpful for the language.

Life there is very laid-back, and they place great importance on enjoying life, which I can now relate to. In the beginning, this was sometimes a challenge. In the Netherlands, you’re used to buses always being on time, but here you never know when one will come or if it has already passed. But even that has its charm.

What did you think of the internship?

The internship was incredibly fun and educational. The hotel chain I worked for was American, so I found it easy to communicate thanks to the language. I also stayed at the hotel, which was a big plus.

What is the most special experience you've had?

The most special part has been the people I’ve met. They all had different stories and reasons for coming to Costa Rica. They come from all corners of the world, and I will definitely stay in touch with them.

Do you have any tips for students?

Get out there on the weekends! Costa Rica has so many beautiful places and beaches! Rent a car with a few people, then you can leave on Friday and return Sunday evening. Montezuma and Arenal are definitely must-visits.
