Example Monthly Costs for an Internship in Singapore

Singapore is a modern and highly developed city-state known for its excellent infrastructure, safety, and international business environment. While it's one of the more expensive destinations in Asia, with careful planning, you can manage your budget well. Below is an indicative monthly expense overview:

  • Housing: €600 – €1,200
Accommodation is the largest expense. Renting a room in a shared apartment (HDB flat or condo) is more affordable than staying alone in a private studio. Prices vary by location, with central areas like Orchard or Marina Bay being the most expensive.
  • Living expenses (groceries, dining out): €250 – €450
Dining out in hawker centres and food courts is very affordable, with meals costing as little as €3–€6. Groceries and Western-style dining will be more expensive.
  • Transportation (MRT, bus, etc.): €50 – €100
Public transportation is clean, efficient, and inexpensive. A monthly EZ-Link card or public transport pass will cover most commutes.
  • Phone and internet: €20 – €40
SIM cards and data plans are affordable and widely available. Internet is usually included in the rent, or can be arranged with local providers.
  • Insurance (health insurance, travel insurance): €40 – €100
Health and travel insurance are essential for your stay in Singapore. Medical care is excellent but can be expensive for non-residents without coverage.
  • Other expenses (gym, trips, entertainment): €100 – €250
This includes fitness memberships, visiting attractions, weekend getaways to nearby countries, and social activities.

Total estimated monthly cost: €1,060 – €2,140
